Capturing the winning moments for Kiulu – the CIMB Foundation Photo-essay Contest - Updated
At Killers’ 30th Reunion dinner, Taiko (Raja Ali) introduce to us the fund raising project – From Kulim to Kiulu. Immediately, I am game for it. I was wondering how I can contribute back and make a difference for these kids. I hate writing and not good at it but I love to take pictures. Thus, I volunteer to go with the Killers on their pioneer journey to Kiulu last May. Perhaps you have seen some of the captured moments at http://killerbatch.fotopages.com Thanks to digital technology, I can just happily snap, delete and edit the pictures to look like a pro. [P/s. Some pictures didn’t make it to the fotopages site due to censorship and security reason….ahem]
But when you manage to capture a winning moment, it brings pure satisfaction. The photos will tell everything. You can see the passion in Cikgu Teh eyes when he spoke to the kids. That picture already contains the story and emotion that you want to convey. No need to write anything poetic about it. Being “Killers”, we are lazy. Yes, lazy we are but Killers are creative and we have lots of survival skills. I think everyone can still remembered that day before the SPM – Kimia Amali test. Someone actually broke into the lab the night before and found some corns. Immediately we knew that we should know how to test for starch! That is being creative…!
Now we are facing with a bigger task. Along with other Killer photographers, Rudz and Argon, we were assigned to get the best photos from Kiulu to enter the above contest. If we have the winning pictures, the Asrama Donni project will get RM30,000 in addition to a grant of RM100,000 from CIMB foundation. That’s big money and a lot of pressure on us! How do the Killers wing it this time??
We are now preparing for the photo shoot schedule for this coming 19th of June. Some shots that were planned and suggested are the current dormitory scene, the kids at school, kids walking back home, crossing the single plank bridge etc. We do welcome other to join this trip and share their creative and crazy ideas. Let us do our best for the kids.
Taiko, for this next trip, should we go white water rafting or ride the WAVE again…??????
Later, dude…
Part 2 - 19th June 2009 - The Making of Asrama Donni
As I step down from the pick up truck, I was greeted by an amazing view...the foundation of Asrama Donni was being build. That piece of land has transformed! Pieces of our dreams are turning to reality. The is the start of our WINING MOMENTS....more pictures on killers fotopages.

Megat, any update on this? Last I heard your photos were shortlisted. Are they going to exhibit all the shortlisted photos somewhere? I just wanna check out how tough are the other competitors. Have they told you of any timeline?
We have raised RM110,000 @ September and if we win CIMB photo contest that will bring us to spitting distance of our targetted RM251,000.

No news so far and no timeline was given for the result or the photo exhibit. I am very anxious too. Check my e-mail and their website almost daily.... even follow them on Twitter. :]

If you go rafting this time around, make sure it is no more class 1 or 2 "honeymoon" ride. Killers should go for the killer ride - Class 4 and above, baru ada thrill!

Bro, u went back early that day...rest of the killer enjoy killer WAVE that night...the thrill is more than Class 4; in fact, it's more THRILLING than riding on a S-Class.

I knew I was going to miss something. Everytime I say goodbye to Killers, you guys will start cooking up something covert. I am sure it was a thrill!
