Asrama Donni receives grant from CIMB Foundation
Asrama Donni has received a RM70,000 grant from the CIMB Foundation. The grant is to furnish the soon to be completed dormitory with essential amenities such as beds, lockers, mattress and pillows which will be used by some 110 students of SMK Tun Fuad Stephens, Kiulu, Sabah. Killerbatch submitted the proposal to request for aid from the Foundation to equip the dormitory since the monies collected through the fund-raising are only enough to cover the cost of the building construction.
Eugene Chang, the CIMB Foundation's Project Manager who has guided us throughout the process remarked, "We read the articles attached to the proposal and it touch us very much to know that there are Malaysians that really care and we are proud to be a part of it. "
The news came as a relieve to the school PIBG Chairman, Joisin Romut. "It is indeed a great news to us in Kiulu!" He says in his email. "For your information, we have already assigned a teacher warden to look after the coming occupants and day to day running of the asrama. We have also identified most of the occupants/students. On behalf of the community in Kiulu, I would like to record our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all of your kindness", he added.
A total of RM244,000 has been raised since February 2009 which will go towards building the dormitory, which is currently in the final phase of completion. This is indeed an important milestone in our year long fundraising efforts and one that deserves to be celebrated by all of Killerbatch, as we inch towards the end of this exciting journey.
