KUALA LUMPUR – Art, a medium pertaining to the senses of beauty and aesthetics, now plays its role as a fund raiser for the building of a rural school hostel in Kiulu, Sabah.

The project, a collaboration involving some ex-students of the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Kulim, Galeri Chandan and the Sabah Credit Corporation, intends to raise RM200, 000 for the SMK Tun Fuad Stephens dormitory.

Forty-four artists nationwide came together for the I Miss Him So Much charity drive, in memory of a Year Five pupil who tragically took his own life in March 2007 to ease his hardcore poor family’s financial burden.

For the last week alone, the Kulim to Kiulu project submitted for the contest by the Killerbatch has progressively moved from 15th position to 4th. Supporters are urged to continue voting in order to push for the win.

School to get new hostel for remote area students

TUARAN: Once a month, a teenager who aspires to become a teacher guides her brother on a four-hour trek in the forest back to a packed hostel where 16 children share a room.
Suzanna Sibun is among 200 students from remote villages in Kiulu who by next year will have more living space following a pledge to build an additional dormitory at SMK Tun Fuad Stephens.

Ghazal Party Queen, (GPQ) scheduled for 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th February 2010. ( 5th and 7th are for general public). First run in 2004 by Angkatan Karyawan Aktif Kuala Lumpur (Angka) and was staged at the Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman, MTC (formerly known as Matic), Kuala Lumpur.

TUARAN: Soon, about 100 students from far-flung villages in Kiulu, about 20km from here, will no longer have to endure a tiring long walk to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tun Fuad Stephens.
